Discussion of the Student Haneen Diaa Abdel-Wahhab

A master  thesis entitled (spatial variation of the delay in women marriage in the Abi al-Khasib district (a study in population geography)) was discussed in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.

 

The thesis presented by student Haneen Diaa Abdel-Wahhab included four chapters. The first chapter discussed the general introduction and structural features of the residents of Abi al-Khasib district ,the second chapter dealt with the characteristics of late-marriage women, the third chapter showed the geographical distribution of late-marriage women, and the fourth chapter dealt with the reasons for the late marriage age of women and its effects.

The thesis aims at introducing the study, presenting and analyzing the problem of the late age of marriage for women in the district of Abi al-Khasib, its distribution and spatial variation, revealing its causes, and then presenting its effects.

The thesis concluded:

 

1- The growing cases of delaying the age of marriage globally, in the Arab world and locally in light of a number of variables that have a direct and indirect impact on this movement.

2- The demographic, economic, social and residential characteristics are determinants that may have an impact on some women's avoidance of marriage.

3- An increase in the cases of delaying the age of marriage among women in the district of Abi Al-Khasib at an early age, as the highest percentage was recorded in the age group (30 (39) in 632), and the adult is female, i.e. 4203%, while the lowest percentage was recorded in the age group (50 and over) in 358 That is, by 24.96.
