A master thesis entitled  (Preparatory School Libraries and factors affecting their advancement in the city of Basra: a field study) was discussed in the Department of Information and Knowledge Technologies at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.

The thesis presented by the researcher (Moayad Kanaan Saeed) included four chapters represented by (the general framework of the study, the theoretical side, the practical side, results and conclusions).

The thesis aims to identify the factors that affect the advancement of middle school libraries from the point of view of school principals, school library officials and the beneficiaries of school students and the problems they face and finding appropriate solutions.

The thesis concluded the weakness of the legal and legislative aspect of school libraries due to the absence of supervision and follow-up, as well as the weakness of financial support, the lack of buildings for school libraries, and the school libraries lack library collections.
