The master thesis entitled (Representations of the Other in the Poetry of Abdul Karim Kasid) was discussed in the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.

The thesis presented by researcher Alaa Ali Abdel Karim included three chapters (representations of the other types, patterns of the other’s presence, and representations of the other’s level of presence).

The thesis aims to study the manifestations of the poet’s relationship with the different other in all of his poetic works, through their multiple representations that reflected the poet’s culture and his position on other cultures.

The thesis concluded that the poet’s representations of the relationship between the self and the other embodied a human level characterized by openness and interaction without this having a negative impact on the national self-identity
