Basrah University Holds Symposium on (Deviant Ideas and Their Effects on Society)

Under the supervision of the respected Dean of the College of Arts, Professor Dr. Majid Abdul Hamid Al-Kaabi, and the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Professor Dr. Haider Abdul Redha Al-Tamimi, the Educational Guidance and Psychological Care Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah, held an awareness symposium entitled (Deviant ideas and their effects on society).

The symposium, in which Dr. Ihsan Nazim Jawad lectured, aimed to address the danger of the culture of triviality and its role in destroying society. The instructor, Dr. Kholoud Kazem Khalaf, and the instructor, Dr. Suad Abdullah, discussed the negative effects of deviant thoughts in society, and the assistant instructor, Ikhlas Abdel Amir, discussed prevention and treatment of deviant thought. Assistant Professor Dr. Bahija Jassim Muhammad explained the virus of deviant thoughts, its causes and treatment.

The symposium addressed the danger of ideas and their spread among all members of society, in addition to their negative effects on individuals and societies.

The symposium reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which are:

1. Deviant ideas lead to the development of extremist ideas that fuel terrorism in all societies.

2. These ideas negatively affect all segments of society.

3. Misleading and deceiving young people, exploiting them by deviant groups, and turning them into tools used against society.
