The master thesis entitled (Spatial analysis of functional change in commercial land uses in the city of Al-Zubair) was discussed in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.
The thesis presented by the student Zainab Ali Nasser included five chapters (the morphological development of the commercial function in the city of Zubair, the natural and human factors affecting the commercial function of the city of Zubair, the spatial distribution of the uses of commercial land and its institutions in the city of Zubair for the year 2022 AD, assessment of the efficiency of the commercial function in the city of Zubair for the year 2022 AD, the problems of the function and the scope of its region, and the electronic shopping in the city of Zubair).
The thesis aims to identify the nature of commercial land uses in the city of Zubair.
The thesis concluded:
There is a multiplicity of patterns of commercial establishments and their proportions vary in the city of Zubair, despite the functional integration of commercial stores in the study area, however, milestones for commodity specialization have emerged).
The thesis recommended that the distribution of urban land uses, including commercial uses in the new basic design of the city, should be taken into account so that every service uses the places allocated to it according to the designs prepared for the city and the establishment of private parking spaces near the commercial markets in the city of Zubair, especially in the old areas as the commercial focus of the city.
