The Department of Philosophy at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a scientific seminar entitled Mental Health.
The seminar, in which Dr. Naba Abdel Sattar Jaber, assist. lect. Maysaa Sabry, and assist. lect. Sarah Jabbar addressed the most important factors that contribute to self-development, as mentioned by the writer Torao Tokuda. Among these factors are: Transforming desires into goals, starting work as soon as the goal is determined, visualizing the self as we want it to be, overcoming fears, and affirmations.
As for bullying, it is a form of violence, harm, and abuse practiced by an individual or by a group against an individual or group of individuals, where the bully is the strongest victim. Bullying occurs through harassment, verbal or physical assault, or other methods of violence and abuse. Bullying people follow a policy of intimidation and threats, in addition to mocking and belittling the person who is the victim of bullying. Bullying may be continuous and repetitive, as in school bullying, or transient, as in cyberbullying and racist incidents that a victim of bullying may be exposed to in public places.
The seminar aims to shed light on the facts of mental health, and how people begin to develop themselves through the moment of improving their view of themselves, and surrounding it with some appreciation and attention, far removed from any experiences of failure that they had previously experienced.
