The president of the English Language Department and the teaching staff welcomed the new students accepted into the first stage in the English Language Department at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah and congratulated them on the start of the new academic year. They were introduced to the English Language Department, its goals, educational outcomes, and study materials. The students were also advised about rights, duties, commitment, and discipline according to the regulations and the laws of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
