Within the curriculum of extracurricular scientific and cultural activities at the College of Arts/ University of Basra for this year, the college began a series of workshops, and the first scientific workshop was entitled (The Importance of the H-Index and Scientific Publishing for Researchers) by lect.Dr. Miqdad Abdel Imam Abboud, and managed and presented by Professor Zainab Sami Hawal/ Translation Department, responsible for the aforementioned activities, on Sunday 12/3/2023.

This workshop was designated for professors and Postgraduate students, Dr. Abboud discussed the importance of this indicator in measuring the researcher productivity, the dissemination effect, the extent of the influence of published research papers and their resonance in the scientific community and academic platforms that adopt it, and how to raise its value to the degree that the researcher needs in scientific and teaching promotions in evaluating performance, as well as its relationship with the scientific publishing of researchers.

Dr. Abboud concluded the workshop with a number of directions and recommendations for researchers, explaining the conditions required by this indicator and how it is calculated in relation to the number of citations in a single researcher research paper.
