A group of second-year students in the English Language Department at the College of Education/Qurna visited the English Language Department in the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.

The visit included holding a dialogue session on the impact of English poetry on students’ acquisition of linguistic skills and enriching students’ critical perceptions, presented by Dr. Reda Dhanoun Ali, head of the department, in which Dr. Hassan Majid, a lecturer in the department, and Dr. Malik Awfi Al-Maliki, educational supervisor on the staff of the Basra Education Directorate and lecturer at the College of Education/Qarna, spoke. 

The dialogue session concluded with the necessity of activating the role of literary materials in teaching the English language because of its important role in students acquiring linguistic skills and learning the language as non-native speakers.
