The University of Basrah Organizes a Panel Discussion on the Digital Information Center

 

The Department of Information and Knowledge Technologies at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah organized a panel discussion on the Digital Information Center.

 

The panel discussion, in which Assistant Lecturer Ikhlas Abdul Amir Sawadi lectured, highlighted the role of the Digital Information Center of the Library of the Holy Abbasid Shrine, as it specializes in providing various digital library services that will support the educational system in Iraq.  Among the services provided by the center are the loan service, the service of knowing the percentage of borrowing, and the gifting service of sources. The center consists of four departments, including the information management department, the data processing department, the information technology department, and the digital laboratory department. The center manages several projects, including a repository project for preserving Iraqi scientific production and the Iraqi digital repository project for theses and university dissertations.

 

The panel discussion aims to introduce the Center’s services and projects, in addition to the Centre’s publications.

The panel discussion concluded that, through presentation and discussion, we can conclude that the Digital Information Center is of great importance in seeking to provide the best digital services to researchers that are in line with developments in the digital world to improve the reality of digital library services in Iraq. In addition to being a modern-day requirement to facilitate processes and procedures for beneficiaries and to support the educational renaissance in the country.
