In the Department of Arabic Language, College of Arts, University of Basra, a master's thesis entitled "The Objective and Artistic Structure of the Religious Praise Poem from Its Inception to the End of the Fourth Century AH" was discussed.
The thesis presented by the student Raed Abdul Kadhim Muhammad included three chapters. The first chapter dealt with the overlap of poetic purposes in the religious poem. The second chapter referred to the manifestations of the elements of narration in the religious poem, while the third chapter shed the light on the structure of the religious poem by Saheb bin Abbad.
The thesis aims to show the objective characteristics, which the researcher called the overlap of topics or poetic purposes and the technical characteristics that the researcher called the manifestations of the elements of narration in the religious praise poem by the poets of this type of poems.
The thesis concluded that the praise poem is a religious (doctrinal) one that aims to highlight the virtues of the Commander of the Faithful (Imam Ali), and through this praise, the negative aspects of the opponents are shown. It is a revealing and scandalous poem that is a prominent phenomenon in the poets' poetry of the Umayyad and Abbasid periods. It was a historical document of incidents.
