The Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah discussed the topic (spatial analysis of the educational characteristics of the population of the city of Basrah).

The researcher Zainab Majeed Hamid Majeed Al-Hassan’s thesis included three chapters in which she explained the demographic characteristics of the city of Basrah, the educational characteristics of the population, and their geographical distribution in the city of Basrah. In addition to the spatial variation in the educational characteristics of the population in the city of Basrah.

The thesis aims to identify the educational characteristics in the city of Basrah, represented by showing the reality of the educational situation of the population community and revealing the reality of the population size within the educational stages from primary education and kindergarten to university education and its spatial distribution, as well as explaining the correlation between the educational level and its importance in improving the standard of living and the possibility of creating Job opportunities for the population.

The thesis concluded that the city of Basrah is suffering from increased population pressure on all services as a result of the increase in immigration, in addition to the natural increase, which has led to the spread of illegal housing, in addition to the increase in the number of students in the primary stage, for males and females.
