An Instructor at the College of Arts Published a Book Titled :Dialogues in Translation

Dr. Kadhim Ali of the Translation department at the College of Arts/ University of Basra published a book titled :Dialogues in Translation, being prepared and introduced by him.

The book has 322 pages encapsulating 22 dialogues with translators. It adds a lot to Arabic and its culture via translating many of the Arabic works such as novels and short stories Examples include D. Johnson- Davies, C. Cobham, H. Davies, M. Booth, and M. Lynx Qualey of the Arabic literature corpus.

The book included dialogues on translating poetry with the expatriate Iraqi translator Ghareeb Iskandar. Then dialogues move to John Murphy concerning the translation of 'My strife" by A. Hitler. Another dialogue was with Constance Borde and Sheila Malovany-Chevallier, discussing the translation of "The Second Sex" by Simon de Beauvoir. After that, dialogues shifted to Munday, Toury, Venuti, Tymoczko, Pym, Robinson, Simon, von Flotow, Niranjana, M. Baker, Snell-Hornby, and finally the dialogue with Al-Ali to talk about the narratives characterized by local flavour.

The book aims to spread the cultural and academic awareness via translation among translators, the educated and translation students.
