On Sunday and Monday, 20-21 / 12/2020 in the Basra Provincial Office, Department of the Central Public Library, the Department of Information and Libraries, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit and the Quality Unit in the College of Arts, organized a course entitled "Technical Operations in Libraries: Indexing and Classification" for two days.

The course in which Professor Ali Muhair Karim and Professor Tariq Taha Abboud lectured included a series of information related to organizing descriptive information indexing for printed and non-printed materials such as books and periodicals, how to deal with them, making cards for authors of different numbers, making cards for books and periodicals, developing human resources capabilities, operating in central and public libraries and others.

The course aims to train the employee how to deal with libraries smoothly and accurately by following various methods that would give monotony and flexibility in dealing with scientific and service products by using the Dewey Decimal Classification System or the Global Decimal Classification System and the helping tables and how to number books and deal with them according to the books' different orientations and articles  on the list.
