The University of Basrah Organizes a Cultural Seminar on (Electronic Blackmail)

The Department of Information and Knowledge Technologies at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah organized a cultural awareness seminar on electronic blackmail, its forms, and its psychological impact on women.
The seminar, in which Professor Dr. Batoul Ghaleb Al-Nahi lectured, included an explanation of what electronic blackmail is and reviewed an analysis of the psychology of the blackmailing individual as an anti-social personality (an abnormal personality). It also focused on the effects of blackmail on mental, physical and psychological health as it causes stress, anxiety, depression and difficulty concentrating.
The seminar showed that the treatment is to restore self-confidence, increase awareness in using social media, be careful when using them, maintain the confidentiality of their personal information, and think about the future.
The seminar recommended the necessity of conducting an intensive study by legal personnel of the penalties that must be taken against blackmailing persons, issuing deterrent legal materials, activating the role of the media, holding periodic seminars in educational institutions, and activating the role of the Ministry of Interior and Communications in raising awareness to avoid falling into the trap of electronic blackmail.
