A PhD thesis at the University of Basrah examines  (The Geopolitical Analysis of American Digital Diplomacy Towards Iran)

A PhD thesis in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts, University of Basrah, examined  "The Geopolitical Analysis of American Digital Diplomacy Towards Iran."

The thesis presented by the student Asaad Mohsen Badr Al-Sulami included four chapters (the theoretical and conceptual framework and the geopolitical dimensions affecting digital diplomacy (US-Iranian relations as a model, the motives for American digital diplomacy towards Iran and its tools, and the future of American digital diplomacy towards Iran in light of the current regional and international transformations).
The thesis aims to explain the role of the geopolitical and geoeconomic influences of American digital diplomacy towards Iran and the extent of its effectiveness in changing the political system or trying to change its behavior, and what is the future of this diplomacy in light of technological developments and information technology in accordance with international changes.

The thesis was concluded
 Digital diplomacy represents a visible part of soft power through persuasion and temptation of others. It is characterized by speed in its work and is considered one of the tools of soft power. The distance between the two countries, and then the cultural influences between them, was an essential factor in pursuing a policy of soft power through digital diplomacy.
