The book of ‘Significance of Contrastive Grammar in Translating Across Arabic and English

The publishing House of AL-Yousif Printing and Scholar Worldwide in Basra published the book ‘significance of Contrastive Grammar in Translating Across Arabic and English’ by Dr. Jawad Kadhim Jabir, the instructor in the Department of Translation at the College of Arts.

This book examined the contrastive grammar and explained its definitions, strategies and procedures. The author started with giving the readers a good picture of contrastive grammar. The book also examined the similarities and differences between pairs of languages stating that contrastive grammar is a practical approach.

The book discusses the problems of word order in Arabic and English as well as the diversifications and types of the notion. It also discusses the lexical items used to fill the orders tackling such as the nouns, pronouns and prepositions. It also discusses the grammatical construction of negation, the conditional verb and the result verb as well as other essential points related to contrastive grammar.
