A Master Thesis at the University of Basrah Discusses (Means of Entertainment and Recreation in Ancient Egyptian Society



The thesis presented by researcher Manal Khader Ahmed Al-Dosari included three chapters (entertainment and entertainment methods of a physical nature (sports), entertainment and entertainment methods of an artistic nature (expressive arts), and entertainment and entertainment methods of the social aspect.

The thesis aims to understand the nature of Egyptian society and the most important means of entertainment and recreation during that period, and to present a clear picture of the values, customs and traditions in ancient Egyptian society, religious beliefs and daily life that were linked to means of entertainment and recreation that were specific to all classes of society, especially the royal class.

The thesis concluded that entertainment and amusement are a social phenomenon that is affected, like other phenomena, by the values, customs and traditions of society. Ancient Egyptian society was distinguished by the diversity of its sources of entertainment and amusement, which included land and river hunting tools, in addition to scenes of sports games that appeared on the walls of tombs and scenes of musical concerts that were represented by musical instruments and dolls, in addition to papyri that contained some stories, plays and comic drawings.
