A PhD thesis at the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah examined (Representations of the Hero in the Iraqi Novel).
The thesis presented by researcher Ahmed Mohammed Hashim included four chapters that addressed (Representations of the Civilized Hero, Representations of the Problematic Hero, Representations of the Model Hero, and Representations of the Cultural Hero).
The thesis aims to focus on the hero in the Iraqi novel by tracing him through the stages that the novel went through, in order to reveal the transformations of the hero's image in each stage.
The thesis concluded: The hero in the Iraqi novel was represented in four images, the first of which was a civilized hero, the second was a problematic hero, the third was a model hero, and the last was a cultural hero, and from each image branched a binary opposition, the first of which was in which the hero was in agreement and submissive, while the second was in which the hero held an opposing position of domination.
