A PhD thesis in the Department of History, College of Arts, University of Basrah, examined (the policy of the United States of America towards Hungary 1945-1948).

The thesis presented by the student Muhammad Yaqoub Yousef included four chapters (American policy towards Hungary 1939-1944, the position of the United States of America towards Soviet policy towards Hungary January 1945-February 1946, the efforts of the United States of America to solve the regional problems of Hungary and its position at the Paris Peace Conference January 1945-September 1947, and the policy of the United States of America towards political developments in Hungary and the growing influence of the Communists there February 1946-June 1948).

The thesis aims to trace the American policy towards Hungary from 1945 to 1948, and how this policy contributed to the consolidation of Soviet influence in Hungary, despite its attempts to thwart Soviet projects there.Despite the Soviet military presence in Hungary, the United States of America tried to remove Hungary from the Soviet sphere of influence by all means, as it confronted every Soviet step that worked to give Hungary a Soviet character through diplomatic efforts or public confrontation at times, without descending into military confrontation. However, despite its continuous and stubborn diplomatic efforts, it failed to influence events in Hungary, and was eventually forced to surrender to the Soviet influence that controlled Hungary.
