The Translation Department at the College of Arts at the University of Basra held a scientific workshop entitled “Gaining Translation Experience in the Digital Age” by Assistant Professor Dr. Ruqayyah Subaih Al-Taie in Al-Jahiz Hall in the department, and was moderated by the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Jassim Khalifa Sultan, with the participation of Professor Zainab Sami Hawl from the department, and the external lecturer, Assistant Professor Ahmed Subaih Al-Taie.

The workshop included several topics, including opportunities to gain experience in translation through volunteering, joining mentoring and training programs, local and international translation associations, and participating and attending activities held remotely, not limiting the translator’s attendance to local ones only, in addition to focusing on global openness.
Al-Taie discussed the importance of the aforementioned programs in developing translation skills and gaining experience on the one hand, and developing skills in using CAT Tools and professional communication skills on the other hand.

The workshop concluded with a recommendation to the participants to implement the practical steps to join the above programs and trainings as volunteers or trainees and explore the remote work environment in order to achieve the specified goal
