The Department of Philosophy at the College of Arts, University of Basrah, organized a panel discussion  entitled “The Philosophical Nature of Violence”.

The panel, in which Dr. Haider Abdul Hussein Qasir lectured, aims to shed light on the idea of ​​violence philosophically as a global phenomenon that threatens humanity in terms of values, future, and existence.

The panel dealt with the definition of violence, its types, causes and contributing factors, in addition to the nature of the relationship between violence and philosophy, and then the solutions and treatments that philosophy can provide regarding violence.

The panel discussion touched on the philosophers and thinkers’ emphasis on the necessity of philosophical contribution to treating the problem of violence through interest in education and teaching, spreading the culture of dialogue and tolerance, and working to achieve a just policy.
