
The Department of Information and Knowledge Technologies at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah organized a panel discussion entitled (Information Tolerance in Libraries and Information Centers).
The panel, which was lectured by Dr. Batoul Hamid Al-Fayez, dealt with the concept of information tolerance and the history of its emergence in the field of libraries and information, what are the goals it seeks to achieve, the information services that can be provided through this concept, and how to optimally exploit the meaning of this term in enhancing the technical procedures of libraries.
The importance of the panel discussion is summarized in spreading awareness of the concept of information tolerance and the importance of the role it plays in various types of libraries and benefiting from it in providing the best information services.
The panel discussion aims to introduce the concepts of the term information tolerance and the extent of application of this concept in libraries of all types and forms, in addition to determining the levels of internal and external tolerance in libraries, intellectual trends, and the information tolerance movement.
The panel reached the following results: Motivating libraries of all types and forms to achieve and apply the concept of information tolerance in all their procedures, in addition to enhancing this concept in providing their information services. It is also recommended to hold training and development courses to spread awareness of applying the concepts of information tolerance among information specialists and beneficiaries.
