The University of Basrah Organizes a Workshop Entitled (Achieving Visual Heritage)


The Department of History, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit and the Basrah Heritage Center (Manuscripts and Documents Indexing Unit) affiliated with the Department of Islamic and Human Knowledge Affairs at the Al-Abbas's Holy Shrine at the University of Basra, organized a workshop entitled (Investigating the Basra Heritage) for a period of three weeks, starting from Sunday 10/27/2024.

The workshop, which was presented by Professor Dr. Tawfiq Dawai Al-Hajjaj and in which the department’s graduate students participated, aimed to give a lecture on the history of manuscripts and their works, the most important scholars working on them, and their efforts in obtaining copies of these manuscripts from European countries and others, and a presentation of the English indexes that still preserve the quantity of Arab Islamic manuscripts. Al-Hajjaj also called on the students to participate in this important type of knowledge and its impact on achieving the largest amount of our Arab Islamic heritage, which awaits someone to uncover its great cognitive value.
