Athraa Ali Ni'mah's Defense Session

Monday morning on 4/1/2021 in the Arabic Department at the College of Arts, the thesis entitled "The Conceptual Metaphor in Ahmed El Saadawi's Literature, the Novelist".

The thesis included three chapters. The first chapter examined the structural metaphor; whereas the second chapter was titled the ontological metaphor. In the third chapter the directional metaphor was dealt with.

This thesis aimed at exploring the conceptual metaphor with its three types in fictional texts attributed to the author Ahmed El Saadawi. It also uncovers the ability of these texts to express reality and its realization as well as conveying the epistemological values in an artistic way. It also explains the writer's conceptualizations and his attitude towards capturing similarities between the two ideas of metaphor.

The thesis concluded that metaphor is a cognitive attempt which prevails our life and has an implicit conceptual system. This helps us conceives the world and grasps its various actions because metaphor seeks the help of imagination revealing the secrets of the mind in connecting two ideas: through the first idea we capture the second one. It also contributes in building new thoughtful worlds.
