Department of History at the College of Arts Organizes an Academic Trip to Basra International Airport

The Department of History at the College of Arts organized an academic trip for faculty members and students to Basra International Airport, with the aim of gaining first-hand insight into the stages of the airport’s development and its vital role in air traffic. The visit also sought to familiarize participants with the nature of the work carried out by airport staff and the mechanisms used to manage and operate this strategic facility.

 

The trip included an introductory tour of the airport’s various facilities, during which specialists provided comprehensive explanations about the history of the airport’s establishment and the developments it has undergone throughout different periods. In addition, they outlined the duties of the administrative, technical, and security departments, and their role in ensuring passenger safety and the smooth flow of air traffic.

 

Mr. Ahmed Tuhmah Al-Hamdani, Director of the Basra Airport Passports Department, delivered a detailed briefing to the students on the procedures of the passports department, particularly with regard to passport forgery and methods of combating it. He highlighted the efforts made to safeguard border security and protect official documents.

 

This academic trip comes as part of the Department of History’s commitment to enhancing students’ practical and cognitive skills, linking historical studies with the real-world functioning of vital institutions, thereby broadening students’ academic horizons and developing their research skills.
