Activities of the Modern Cataloguing Course Using the (RDA) System Continue at the College of Arts

For the second consecutive day, activities of the Modern Cataloguing Course based on the Resource Description and Access (RDA) system continued at the Conference Hall of the College of Arts, University of Basrah. The course is organized by a delegation from the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, headed by Mr. Hasnain Ahmed Hassan Al-Mousawi, with the participation of a number of faculty members and library staff from various colleges and university centers.

 

The second day included both theoretical and practical lectures focusing on the rules of Resource Description and Access (RDA), methods of preparing bibliographic records in accordance with modern international standards, and highlighting the most significant differences between the RDA system and traditional cataloguing systems, as well as their role in developing library and academic work.

 

The sessions witnessed clear interaction from participants through discussions and questions related to the practical application of the system within university libraries, contributing to the unification of cataloguing procedures and the enhancement of information services provided to researchers.

 

The course continues for three days under the supervision and follow-up of the Director of the College of Arts Library, Dr. Hala Ghalib Al-Nahi. It aims to raise the efficiency of library staff and strengthen scientific cooperation between the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine and the University of Basrah.
