
The activities of the specialized training course on modern cataloguing according to the latest international systems concluded at the College of Arts Library. The final day was dedicated to the topic of subject cataloguing, attended by a number of faculty members, staff, and students from the Department of Information and Knowledge Technologies across various colleges and centers of the University of Basrah.
On the final day, the course lecturers addressed the concept of subject cataloguing and its importance in organizing information resources and facilitating access to them. Practical explanations were provided on mechanisms for selecting subject headings in accordance with approved international standards, highlighting their role in improving the quality of library work and serving researchers.
The final day witnessed significant interaction from students through discussions and applied questions, enhancing the practical aspect and linking theoretical concepts with actual library practices.
At the conclusion of the course, the administration of the College of Arts Library expressed its thanks and appreciation to Mr. Hasnain Ahmed Hassan Al-Mousawi, Mr. Yahya Saad Khudair, and all attendees for their valuable efforts and active participation in the success of the course, emphasizing the importance of such training programs in developing library work in line with the latest international systems and standards.
