The Department of History at the College of Arts, University of Basrah, organized a scientific seminar entitled “The Consequences of the Conquest of Al-Andalus and Its Impact on the Arabic Language and History.”
The seminar aimed to shed light on the conquest of Al-Andalus as one of the most pivotal events in Islamic and world history. Its impact was not limited to military and political dimensions; rather, it brought about a profound civilizational transformation that lasted for centuries. This conquest contributed to the spread of the Arabic language and its establishment as a language of science, culture, and administration, and it turned Al-Andalus into a radiant center of civilization that transmitted the knowledge of the Islamic East to Western Europe.
Through this cultural interaction between Muslims and other peoples, a unique historical experience emerged that influenced the course of human history and contributed to the development of science, literature, and thought, leaving a clear imprint on language and history—an imprint whose effects remain evident to this day.
