On Tuesday, 30/12/2025, the College of Arts at the University of Basrah staged an awareness-raising theatrical performance entitled “Drugs: The Path to Destruction.” The play addressed the dangers of drug abuse and the necessity of combating it. It was presented by a group of fourth-year students from the Department of History under the supervision of several faculty members.

The play aimed to shed light on the negative effects of drug abuse on individuals and society, and to emphasize the importance of confronting this dangerous phenomenon, particularly within the university environment.

The performance concluded with several important recommendations, most notably:

       1.    Encouraging university students to engage in purposeful cultural and scientific activities as an effective means of preventing behavioral deviations.

       2.    Emphasizing the role of media outlets and institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education in raising awareness within the university community about the dangers of drug abuse and enhancing preventive awareness among students.
