Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Majid Abdul Hamid, Dean of the College of Arts, and under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Haider Abdul Ridha, the College of Arts Library organized a scientific seminar entitled:

“Mechanisms of psychological support in dealing with anxiety and depression”.

The seminar was organized under the supervision of the Director of the College of Arts Library, Professor Dr. Hala Ghalib Al-Nahi, and its sessions were moderated by the experienced Professor Dr. Batoul Ghalib Al-Nahi (University of Basra), and was attended by a number of faculty members, staff and students of the college.

The seminar aimed to introduce participants to the concept of anxiety and depression, to differentiate between them, and to highlight their psychological and physiological causes, while explaining the mechanisms of self-psychological support that contribute to reducing their negative effects, especially those related to negative thinking and its impact on the emotional state and physiological functions of the individual.

The seminar included a discussion of a self-treatment program based on rebuilding and changing negative thoughts using practical scientific methods, which positively impacts the psychological and physical condition of those suffering from anxiety and depression.

The seminar also addressed institutional support mechanisms within the university environment, which included emphasizing the importance of providing a university psychological counselor to support students in alleviating exam stress, organizing specialized workshops in time management, as well as providing appropriate rest times for employees, which enhances mental health and the quality of academic and professional performance.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the administration of the College of Arts Library expressed its thanks and appreciation to the lecturer, the seminar organizers, the college president, and all attendees, emphasizing its continued commitment to organizing scientific and awareness-raising activities that contribute to supporting mental health and building a healthy environment
