A Discussion of the Student Karim Hamid Abbas

A master's thesis entitled "The Iranian Peasant in the Safavid Era (1501-1736 AD): a historical study", was discussed in the History Department,  College of Arts.

The thesis which presented by the student Karim Hamid Abbas included three chapters. The first chapter dealt with the general conditions of the Iranian peasant in the Safavid Era.

The second chapter dealt with the development of agricultural practices and their impact on increasing production during the Safavid Era. The third chapter examined the problems of land ownership and its owners and their impact on the Iranian peasant.

 

The thesis aims to shed light on the social and economic conditions of the Iranian peasants and the nature of their living under the establishment of the Safavid state (1501-1736AD), ​​in addition to the important and influential role of the peasant at that time, which is the main pillar of the Safavid economy.

The thesis concluded that the peasant class is one of the largest classes of Iranian society, important and productive at all in the Safavid Era, despite the lack of vision of the Safavid state towards the Iranian peasant
