


In support of cultural and religious activities and to promote community values, the Cultural Center at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Department of Information and Knowledge Technologies at the College of Arts, held the Shabaniyah Pilgrimage Festival entitled “The Shining Moons… A Renewed Gift that Illuminates the Path”, in the presence of a number of professors, administrative staff and students.
The Director of the Cultural Center, Professor Dr. Nizar Abdul Mohsen, confirmed that holding this festival comes within the university’s directions to support events that contribute to consolidating cultural and religious awareness and strengthening community identity among students.
For her part, the Head of the Department of Information and Knowledge Technologies, Professor Dr. Amal Abdul Rahman, explained that the festival aims to highlight the spiritual and intellectual dimensions of the Shabaniyah visit and link it to the scientific and humanitarian message of the university.
The festival included a beautiful recitation from the Holy Quran by reciter Hussein Majid Al-Ulayawi, along with a scholarly seminar entitled "The Age of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance)" presented by teacher Ali Muhair. The seminar featured a number of discussions, questions, and religious competitions. The event also included poems in praise of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) and the pure family of the Prophet, recited by poets Abbas Al-Fariji and Tammuz Al-Maliki.
