

The Department of Information and Knowledge Technologies at the College of Arts - University of Basra, in cooperation with the Indexing and Information Systems Center at the Holy Abbasid Shrine, announced the installation of the (Koha) library management system as part of the steps for digital transformation and modernization of library services.
A fully equipped computer with the required specifications for operating the system was provided within the department's laboratory, ensuring its readiness to operate efficiently during the next phase.
The Koha system contributes to organizing and managing paper and electronic information resources, improving indexing processes according to international standards, in addition to facilitating access for students and researchers to books and resources through the electronic index (OPAC), as well as providing accurate reports and statistics that support the development of work.
The head of the department, Professor Dr. Amal Abdul Rahman, confirmed that this step represents an important development in modernizing the information infrastructure, noting that cooperation with the Holy Abbasid Shrine played a major role in the success of the project, and that the system will contribute to improving the services provided to students and researchers.
