The University of Basrah Organizes a Scientific Seminar Entitled "The Window of Demographic Analysis and its Perspectives in Geographical Research"

 


The Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts, University of Basra, organized a scientific seminar entitled "The Window of Demographic Analysis and its Perspectives in Geographical Research." The seminar, chaired by Professor Dr. Amal Saleh Al-Kaabi, included several research papers. Participants included: Professor Dr. Basim Abdul Aziz Al-Othman, whose paper was titled "The Window of Demographic Analysis and its Perspectives in Geographical Research"; Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Abdul Amir Aboud, whose paper was titled "An Analytical Study of the Dominant City Phenomenon Due to the Size Hierarchy of Urban Centers in Basra Governorate"; Assistant Professor Huda Dawood Najm Al-Saad, whose paper was titled "The Importance of Demographic Analysis in Scientific Research: An Integrated Multidisciplinary Approach"; Assistant Professor Dr. Nadia Nouri Ali, whose paper was titled "Demographic Trends in University Theses and Dissertations at the University of Basra: A Study in Geographical Thought"; Lecturer Dr. Haider Ali Jabr and Assistant Lecturer Iman Jabbar Saleh, whose paper was titled "How to Collect, Analyze, and Use Demographic Data in the Economic Activity of the Population"; and Lecturer Dr. Shrouq Talib Abdul Wahab, whose paper  entitled "The Importance of Demographic Analysis in Scientific Research: An Integrated Multidisciplinary Approach." The role of demographic analysis in industrial geography studies.

The seminar concluded with the following:

Emphasis on scientific ethics in geographical research.

Emphasis on applied research that addresses societal problems, some of which are not explicitly addressed within the main dimensions of population geography.

Emphasis on training in research, fieldwork, technology, and cartographic representation to serve as a pathway for geographical researchers, while avoiding, as much as possible, the shortcomings encountered in some studies.

Integration of demographic studies with other studies, whether geographical or otherwise.

Opening avenues for developing demographic studies and exploring new horizons in scientific and humanistic fields.

Studying the urban structure of the population and identifying the most populated groups to leverage their potential in establishing new industries and utilizing youth to combat unemployment.
