University of Basrah Organizes a Scientific Seminar Entitled “The Role of Faculty Members in Shaping the University Student’s Personality”

The Human Rights Unit at the College of Engineering / University of Basrah organized a scientific seminar entitled “The Role of Faculty Members in Shaping the University Student’s Personality.”

The seminar, delivered by Assistant Lecturer Muntadhar Karim Qasim from the Department of Philosophy at the College of Arts, addressed the role of university faculty members, emphasizing that their responsibility goes beyond merely transmitting knowledge. Instead, they play a fundamental role in shaping the student’s personality, as the university stage represents a critical transition from passive reception to intellectual independence, during which the student’s scientific and personal identity is formed.

The university instructor is considered a role model, influencing students through their way of thinking, teaching methods, and behavior in the classroom. Their impact extends to building self-confidence, fostering critical thinking, and instilling values, not just delivering information.

The seminar concluded by emphasizing that an effective educator is one who builds relationships based on respect and trust, connects course material to students’ real-life experiences, and encourages participation and teamwork; thereby, helping to prepare students capable of independent thinking and positive engagement with society.
