Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Arts, Professor Dr. Majid Abdul Hamid Al-Kaabi, and under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Professor Dr. Haider Abdul Ridha Al-Tamimi, and the Head of the Department of Translation, Professor Zaineb Sami Hawel, the Department of Translation at the College of Arts / University of Basrah held an introductory interactive workshop entitled: “The Mechanism of Applying and Being Admitted to Postgraduate Studies in the Department of Translation,” delivered by Lecturer Dr. Ruqayya Subaih Khalaf on Tuesday, 28/4/2026.

Dr. Khalaf reviewed the essential schedules and requirements for applying to postgraduate studies within Iraq, methods of managing the allocated preparation time, and the competitive examination subjects for both master’s and doctoral studies in the department in order to prepare for the examination. The workshop was attended by many preparatory-year and thesis-stage students, as well as graduates from previous years who discussed their preparations prior to the application period, allowing prospective applicants to benefit from their experiences. The workshop concluded with students’ questions and the lecturer’s answers supported by examples.
