The University of Basrah Organizes a Scientific Seminar on Behavioral Objectives and Their Relationship to Achievement Tests

The Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts, University of Basrah, organized a scientific seminar entitled: “Behavioral Objectives and Their Relationship to Achievement Tests,” delivered by Professor Dr. Qasim Matar Al-Khalidi.

The seminar included several themes. The first focused on the levels of behavioral objectives, while the second examined how to transform a behavioral objective into a question. The third theme explained the foundations of constructing achievement tests, whereas the fourth was devoted to presenting the conditions of a good test.

The seminar concluded with several findings, most notably the necessity of distributing final achievement test items according to scientific and statistical standards that consider progression from easy to difficult. It also emphasized distributing marks according to the relative importance of each level of behavioral objectives, taking into account individual differences among students, organizing examination questions in line with the allotted exam time, and ensuring comprehensive coverage of the curriculum.
