The Central Library at the University of Basrah Holds a Scientific Workshop on the Role of Artificial Intelligence in Libraries

 

 

The Central Library at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Department of Information and Knowledge Technologies at the College of Arts, organized a scientific workshop entitled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Libraries.” The workshop was delivered by Lecturer Tariq Taha Aboud, Rapporteur of the Department of Information and Knowledge Technologies, and targeted the human resources staff working at the Central Library.

The workshop addressed the role of artificial intelligence technologies in developing library services by facilitating the search and retrieval of information quickly, as well as improving access to books and articles through smart catalogs and databases. It also highlighted the areas in which artificial intelligence can be utilized in library science and examined the ethical aspects associated with its applications.

The workshop further shed light on the impact of artificial intelligence in enhancing user experience, saving time and effort, and supporting the management of resources and advanced library services.

In her statement, the Head of the Department of Information and Knowledge Technologies, Professor Dr. Amal Abdulrahman, emphasized the importance of the workshop in improving staff efficiency and keeping pace with the digital transformation taking place in modern information institutions.
