College of Arts Studies the Biography of Abdul Allah Bishara and his Political Role 1936-1993 A.D

 

     M.A. thesis entitled Abdul Allah Bishara: a Study in His Biography and Political Role 1936-1993 A.D is discussed at the College of Arts, University of Basra.

      The thesis, which is introduced by student Qutaiba Jassim zi’gher, consisted of three chapters. The first chapter discusses Abdul Allah Bishara’s upbringing and his early political activity. The second chapter shows his history as a non-permanent delegate of the Security Council (1978-1979 A.D). The third chapter investigates his political and diplomatic activity when he became Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council (1981-1993 A.D).

       The thesis dealt with Abdul Allah Bishara’s figure as a political figure that has an important political activity towards the Arab and regional issues which happened during his work in the Security Council(1978-1979 A.D). These issues include, for instance, the Israeli invasion of southern Lebanon (1978), the Question of Palestine)1979( the American hostages crisis in Iran (1979) and other regional issues happened at his lifetime.

      The study reaches a number of conclusions, the most prominent of which is Abdul Allah Bishara’s big and clear political role that he played in the few previously mentioned issues. Also, his role to solve many regional crises and wars. In Addition, he made a tangible contribution to enhance the Kuwaiti and Arab relationships with foreign and European countries, using his policy and diplomacy to convergence of views between the parties.
