Criticism is a Way of Life by Dr. Aqeel Abdul-Hussein

"Sublimation of Shapes' by Dr. Dhyaa' Al-Thamiry

"Sublimation of Shapes" is a book published by Dr. Dhyaa' Al-Thamiry which concerns Poetry Criticism. It is the art that gained little attention in the last decades in spite of its importance and its great cultural and historical role.

The book consists of a number of studies: consciousness exchange, the reader and curriculum, shape exchange: the line and prose poem; exchange of expression: poetry, stone and identity exchange: home and passport; misleading exchange: a woman and writing; exchange of meaning: the poet and reading; rhythm exchange: drama, poetry and impact exchange: reality and poetry.

All these themes are related to the current basic questions on poetry, writing, topics, major cases that attract poetry readers and criticism and its receivers such as curriculum, reading, critical writing, homeland, identity and woman writing, which, Al-Thamiry said about, is characterized by traditional writings, Shahrazad, tendency to narration. This lavishes the ability to invent  expression shapes such as the very short story, which expresses her looking forward to social freedom, utilizing representing herself artistically and humanly, from her inclination for narration from the emergence of genres like prose poem, thinking of breaking constraints, breaching the poetic traditions and it becomes clear out of the relationship between the author and the two expressive forms: the prose poem and the very short story as well as the writer's orientation and his purpose. It is a critical research in exchange or sublimation as in the basic title between two forms where one of them benefits from the formal and the semantic features of the other so as to achieve its idiosyncrasy. In this way it will produce its intended contemporary signification. This is a tendency adopted in all of the chapters.

This book represents the academic experience of the writer and his experience in the cultural and literary field. It includes researches and studies conducted and delivered in my university field and the union of writers. It shows a semiotic representation as favoured by Al-Thamiry in critical writing, so it is also a process of exchange, which does not leave a point without reaching another. Thus, a new work is produced via this transmission, having its own formal speciality and its cultural and social importance. Academic criticism is in its way towards culture.

In the academic community, the reader in a society benefits from the curriculum, the objective, fair and investigative academic orientation. In the social and literary world, he also benefits from the closeness between writing and society, its problems and issues, and its response to them. In this way, it produces a criticism which is more capable of contemplation, suggestion and matching the movement of culture and literature in society. In addition, it is also more flexible linguistically and lexically and closer to readers. This is a critical and life choice adopted by Al-Thamiry who chose this form of criticism. The book is published by Dar Al-Amal publishing House in Damascus in 2017. It has 237 pages of the middle size.
