A Discussion of the student Mortada Suwan Khashan

A master's thesis entitled "A geographical Analysis of the Water Pollution of the Chibayish Marshlands and Their Environmental Impacts" was discussed in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems, College of Arts.

 The thesis, presented by the student Mortada Suwan Khashan, included four chapters in which he dealt with the geographical characteristics of the Chibayish Marshlands in southern Iraq, the sources affecting the pollution of their waters, their spatial analysis, and the environmental impacts of the pollution of the Chibayish Marshlands.

 

 

 The study concluded that human activities were a major cause of pollution of the waters of the Chibayish Marshlands, and that these activities clearly and significantly affect health, human, animal and plant wealth.

The thesis discussed the impact of environmental pollution on the quality of the water in the Chibayish Marshlands, which showed that the quality of this water is not in conformity with the environmental specifications by comparing the environmental standards related to irrigation water, water suitable for fish living and drinking water.
