On Wednesday morning, 10/21/2020, at the Department of History, College of Arts, an M.A. thesis entitled The Prophet Muhammad “peace be upon him and his household” and his Community: A Study of the Characteristics and Relationships in Light of the Qur’anic Perspective, Surat Al-Ahzab, as a Sample, was discussed.

The thesis that was presented by student Aalaa Muhammad Nasir Dawli consists of four chapters. The first chapter discusses the stations of praise and glory of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his household), his characteristics and missions, and the second chapter concerns the relationship of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his household) with his community. Besides, the third chapter shows the military aspect of Surat al-Ahzab. Finally,  the fourth chapter focuses on the legislative aspect of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his household) and the Muslims.

The thesis aims at unveiling the events of the Prophet’s biography from a Qur'aanic perspective, regarding it as a reliable source that cannot be distorted because its source is divine. Surat Al Ahzab has been selected to be the main core of the thesis for a specific reason, though the Surah linked with is a military incident, which is the battle of Al Ahzab, when reviewing its verses we find it includes historical, social, and legislative concerns of the Prophet and his community in a time segment that was not determined its date until the ninth year of the Hijra.

The thesis concluded that relying on the Qur’anic text as a source for the biography of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his household) gave the historical facts solidity and strength, concerning it as the reliable source that was granted by Allah. For the Quran was Contemporaneous to those events mentioned by the Qur’anic verses regarding the Prophet, his circumstances, and his community. Through the critical approach, the research was able to diagnose the defects in some of the historical issues that were commonly mentioned as for digging the trench and attributing it to the companion Salman, as it was proven to be the idea of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his household). In addition to the alleged role of Na'im bin Masoud in thwarting the conspiracy against the Prophet from the parties and Bani Quraidhah, as it was found that this piece of information has no basis.
