a cultural symposium entitled The Image of the Prophet (peace be upon him) between the Qur’anic Perspective and the Traditional text.

The Continuing Education Unit in the College of Arts, in cooperation with the Department of History, has organized a cultural symposium on the anniversary of  Al Miladunnabi which entitled  (The Image of the Prophet “peace be upon him” between the Qur’anic Perspective and the Traditional Text) within the moral and military aspect. Many of Iraqi university professors have participated in this symposium, for instance, Shaker Majeed, Jawad Kazem Al-Nasr Allah, Sami Judeh, Kefaya Tarish, Salma Al Hashimi, and Intissar Adnan Al Awad.

In its moral aspect, the symposium has concerned with the morals of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with Ahil Al Thimmah. In this consideration, the symposium touched on the bases of the Prophet's treatment (peace be upon him) with Ahil Al Thimmah who lived within the Prophet's care, enjoying with all their human rights such as freedom of belief, etc., according to the Qur’anic approach. Besides, this moral aspect has refuted the allegations of some narrations that claim that the Prophet (peace be upon him) mistreated Ahil Al Thimmah, depending on the Qur’anic text and authentic narrations.

As for the military aspect, it dealt with the reasons for the variation in the Qur’anic and historical images of the Prophet (peace be upon him), using the military approach as a model to demonstrate this contradiction, indicating the Qur’anic description of the Prophet (peace be upon him) as a prophet of Allah, while the historical narration presented the Prophet (peace be upon him) as a warrior has wars and invasions, similar to what the Arabs had before Islam.
