The College of Arts at the University of Basra organize a seminar on the Ion Plato dialogue, A Study in Philosophical Analysis, on Tuesday 27-7-2021.

   The aim of the seminar in which A. Maha Issa Al-Abdullah lectured, is to present the problem of interpretation as posed by Plato in the Ion dialogue and his vision that embodied his position on interpretation as an art linked to specific conditions that the interpreter must not deviate from.

    The seminar dealt with the problem of interpretation, which has re-emerged in importance with contemporary Western thought, which has returned to it, because it has become one of the most complex intellectual, philosophical and cultural problems due to the connection of this problem with language on the one hand, and with texts and understanding them. On the other hand, and what the wide controversy resulted in from fragmentation, difference and diversity in the views of philosophers and thinkers about the texts and the position on them, is a clear evidence of the difficulty and complexity of the problem of interpretation
