A Discussion of the Student Ali Kazem Daoud

A master's thesis entitled "Hegemony in Models of the Iraqi Novel - A Study in the Light of Critical Analysis of the Discourse" was discussed in the Department of Arabic Language, College of Arts, on Monday, 7/26/2021.

The thesis presented by the student Ali Kazem Daoud included three chapters. The first chapter discussed the textual level, the second chapter discussed the rhetorical level, and the third chapter discussed the social level.

The thesis aims to study a number of Iraqi novelist models issued after 2003 using the critical analysis method of discourse proposed by Norman Fairclough, in order to reveal the manifestations of the concept of hegemony in the studied novel models and their methods of representation.

The thesis concluded that the Iraqi novel issued after 2003 represented the concept of hegemony through different levels, including the level of text, the level of discourse, and the level of society, by making use of narrative techniques, including event, voice and point of view.
