Discussion of the student Amjad Muhammad Reda Odah

On Wednesday morning, 8/9/2021, a doctoral thesis, entitled  “The Epic in Rabi’ Jaber’s Novelistic Literature, was discussed in the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts.

The thesis presented by the student Amjad Muhammad Reda Odah included a preface and four chapters. The first chapter discussed the “formula” of discourse in novelistic works, the second chapter discussed the study of “narration time”, the third chapter dealt with “epic and legendary manifestations” and the fourth chapter dealt with poetic tendency, lyricism and the collective spirit.

The thesis aims that there is a great convergence between the text of the novelist Rabi’ Jaber and the text of the epic from the formal and thematic point of view, and the disclosure of the prominent epic features in the texts of the Lebanese novelist Rabi’ Jaber.

The thesis reached a study on the motives that made the writer approach the epic text, and this came as a result of the topics he presents with national dimensions and common issues.
