The University of Basrah Organizes a Panel Discussion Entitled “God’s Purposes in His Actions and Judgments Between Denial and Proof”

The Department of Philosophy at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah held a panel discussion entitled “God’s Purposes in His Actions and the Differences of Islamists in It Between Denial and Proof” for the Assist.lect. Ali Abbas Daher , an instructor in the department of philosophy.

In this panel discussion, the researcher sought to clarify the opinions of theologians and philosophers about the validity of the purpose in divine actions and the lack of it.  It dealt with the opinions of Mu'tazila, Ash'ari and Imami speakers on the issue of purposes and comparing it with the views of Islamic philosophers, especially Ibn Sina and Sadr al-Din al-Shirazi.

The researcher dealt with the misunderstanding of the opinions of some writers when they believed that the philosophers negate the purposes of the divine act, and he attributed this to their words - the philosophers - about the rule that the high does not do for the sake of the low. The researcher also touched on the concept of transcendent wisdom, and how to prove the purposes and distinguish between them, then he turned to the issue of the paradox of the scholars of origins, and stated that most of the Ash’aris proved the purposes of the rulings, while the Imamis did not prove them - mostly - contrary to what they went to in theology.
