The master’s thesis entitled (Disclosing the source expressions of Anaam Kajji’s novel The American Granddaughter) was discussed in the Translation Department at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.
The thesis presented by researcher Ghaith Thaer Abdel-Hakim included five chapters (the introduction and previous studies
methodology, results, analysis and conclusion).
The thesis aims to reveal the strategies used in translating the function of infinitive expressions, their types, the extent of their acceptability and their impact in the translated version of the novel The American Granddaughter.
The thesis concluded that the infinitive expression is of great importance in writing literature, which has a significant impact on the plot of the novel, which in turn gives flavor and ease to the reader through which the reading process is facilitated.
The researcher recommends the necessity of teaching such topics because it enhances the student’s ability to deal with such terms that carry within them many meanings that require great focus and effort to reach their functional meaning.
